November 22, 2006, in Beauvais, in the Oise, a young 23-year-old woman was torn to pieces by four Rottweilers as she prepared to feed them. A few months earlier, in Normandy, an 8-year-old boy lost his life after being savagely bitten by a Bullmastiff.

The list is long. Since ten years ago, fifteen or so children and senior citizens have been killed and hundreds others injured by dangerous animals. Their names? Rottweiler, Pit bull, Boerbull, Mastiff…

Faced with such a situation, the authorities call for vigilance and have adopted new measures against dangerous dogs, as much for those of the first category (attack dogs), as those of the second (guard dogs).

Sanctions have stiffened, controls reinforced. All the same, the specialized brigades’ equipment does not cease to develop in order to facilitate capturing these animals uncontrollable by nature. But the battle promises to be tough. One could still count another 260,000 attack dogs undeclared in the country.
